Lakshadweep NCP MP Mohammed Faizal has been disqualified from the Lok Sabha after the Kerala high court rejected his plea for suspension of conviction in a murder case. The high court noted that allowing MPs with criminal convictions to continue in office would send the wrong signals to the public. Faizal had been sentenced for attempting to kill a politician during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
