The Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court has ruled that having a photograph of a religious figure at home does not mean a person is professing that religion. The decision was made in response to a plea by a 17-year-old girl whose caste validity claim was denied because a vigilance officer found a photo of Jesus Christ at her home. The court stated that the presence of the photograph did not indicate a conversion to Christianity and ordered the quashing of the caste claim denial.
